There's so much in this story that invites pondering. I'll be honest; the author is my sister, and this is her first work of fiction in print, but I hope it won't be her last. Speaking not as sister but as literature teacher and lifetime critic, I am fascinated by this intriguing dystopian short story. The voices are authentic, the story is gripping, the turns are surprising, and the tension between undefined horror and hope for escape is precariously balanced in this tightly crafted story about love and memory, both lost and found.Product details

This story is breathtaking - a complex and deep plot in an amazingly economical number of words. I won't forget this.
I was on the edge of my seat from the get go. Not sure what was happening, but wanting more as I read. I was very sad when it ended. I can't wait for more. I pray this is only the beginning for Heather Davis. Well done Heather!

Interesting read .. Got the free offer so it won't let me read more then the first couple pages sadly
Although this is a short and quickly read story, the premise is fascinating and I'd love to see the author develop it into a longer story.
Davis takes us into a fascinating dystopian SciFi world, seen through the eyes of Evan, a thief. The characters come alive in a story where the environment as well as its rulers is a threat. Almost anything else I can say about this compelling novella would be a spoiler. Regardless, it's an exciting and thought provoking construct to read, to consider . . . and to fear.
